Why an eye doctor?

Every doctor who wants to serve as a specialist will come to a stage where they have to decide what specialty do they want to specialise in. That stage came to me after 2 years of completing my district posting. Once upon a time, when we have lesser number of doctors, every doctor has to do a compulsory district posting. This was where your endurance, your passion, your knowledge and skills are tested. Imagine, you are the only doctor on-call covering the whole peripheral district just by yourself! Yeah.. scary. Anyway, a good thing came out of my district posting - i knew which specialties put me off, there was a long list of it.

A lot of things happened to me circa 1997-1998, let us just skip that for another blog post, I was transferred to Kuantan General Hospital a.k.a Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan. The first day i reported for duty, Dr Ahmad Razin, the hospial director offered to post me to the Ophthalmology department. Here was a turning point in my life.
